Obituary for Jerry Wayne "Buddy" Busby

Athens – Graveside services for Buddy are scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos, Texas. Visitation services for Buddy will be held from 4-6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens, Texas.

Buddy Busby, age 77, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2019 in Athens, Texas.

Jerry Wayne Busby was born October 14, 1941 in Paris, Texas the son of Milton Nathaniel Busby and Jeanetta Faye Williford Busby. He joined the US Army and proudly served his country during Vietnam as an Air Borne/Special Forces Ranger. He and his wife Juanita owned a real estate company in Pecos for many years before Buddy became the County Appraiser of Loving County. Buddy enjoyed ranching, riding horses and working cattle. He had a very close relationship with his great nephews, Ethan and Nikolas Chavez. Buddy will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Carrell Busby; his parents and two sisters, Vivian Tumlinson and Norma Boyd.

Buddy is survived by his nieces and nephews, Carolyn Tumlinson of Athens, Jerry Tumlinson and wife Ange of Eustace, Paige Tumlinson of San Angelo, David Draper of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dana Majors and Tony Hinojoz of Pecos, Becky Smith of Pecos, Mary Rodriguez and husband Greg of Lubbock and many other family members and friends.
